Spiced Apples To Ignite Your Agni - The Digestive Fire

It's an apple season and let's start the day with a spiced apple!
Having a spiced apple first thing in the morning is one of the simplest and most cherished Ayurvedic rituals for overall wellness. Cooked apples promote a balanced release of digestive juices, helping to regulate both high and low metabolism. Additionally, their sour taste helps cleanse the liver, an essential organ for detoxifying the body.
Stewed apples are not only a delicious way I start the morning, but the most gentle energy igniters that will set your digestive fire to burn evenly through the day.
Stewed apples are the perfect digestive fire starter, and here is why.
Warm fruits are much easier to digest than cold ones. Fruits like apples, pears, and plums are high in pectin.
Pectin is a particular form of fiber – a soluble fiber that improves the environment in our gut, feeds good bacteria, reduces inflammation, and boost immunity. And by stewing apples, we make pectin even more readily available for our gut bacteria to digest.
In addition to pectin, apples are a plentiful source of insoluble fiber that promotes regularity and purification of the body; and acts as a gentle cleanse for the digestive system. Stewed apples optimize dietary pH balance and boost immunity.
